NEsting birgit / pesivä birgit
The title of the work, Pesivä Birgit - Nesting Birgit, refers both to the Woman and the human being as one of the animal species, which, like many other animals, cares for and nurtures its offspring. Pesivä Birgit - Nesting Birgit reflects on how care and compassion defined as feminine are manifested in the forest, in its plants and fauna. At the same time, the work is a tribute to the pioneer and feminist avant-garde artist Birgit Jürgenssen (1949 – 2003), whose black-and-white photograph called Nest (1979), has inspired this work.
